ChampionChip 10K Grand Prix

Northern Ireland’s leading series of 10km running races is back for 2023.

About The Series

The ChampionChip 10K Grand Prix, coordinated by ChampionChip Ireland, will feature a £10,000 prize fund for individuals and teams. The series will begin with Jimmy's 10K on 12th March and will conclude in January 2024.

Each race in the 10K Grand Prix is timed and ranked using an age-graded scoring system, meaning the series is carefully designed to take account of gender, age and ability. It is open to individual competitors as well as six-person club teams free of charge.

Please note that, if you have already registered for last year's Cinema Coffee 10K Grand Prix, you must re-register for this year's Grand Prix.

Prizes will be awarded to the top 30 finalists and top five clubs in the series, with a top individual prize of £1000.

Frequently Asked Questions

To enter, runners must register for the series for free on this website. Simply sign up for each race with the same email address you used to register and the race organiser will provide the relevant entry data to the 10K Grand Prix organisers.

Please note that, if you have already registered for last year's Cinema Coffee 10K Grand Prix, you must re-register for this year's Grand Prix.

A ranking list of the participants will be generated after each race showing the runners’ times and their relevant age-graded score as a percentage. The average percentage score of each runner across the best 6 races they complete will be used. Chip times will be used primarily where available on the race results. Runners will have to complete at least 6 of the total races in the 10K Grand Prix.

The runners’ performances at each race will be compared to the Age Graded Tables. Age grading is a way to adjust the runners’ performance according to age and gender. The age-grading tables were developed by the World Association of Veteran Athletes, the world governing body for track and field, long distance running, and race walking for veteran athletes. The tables were first published in 1989.

For example, a 35 year old male running 31 minutes receives a score of 87.0% whilst a 25 year old female recording 33 minutes receives a score of 91.9%.
